Dia de los Muertos Exhibit
- Off the Hook -
Benefits the National Ovarian Cancer Center (NOCC)
November 3 - 5, 2017

This contemplative, yet celebratory and colorful, exhibit features seven local artists and one guest artist from New Mexico. It brings together the rituals of the Catholic feast day, All Souls Day, and those of the ancient Aztec and contemporary Hispanic cultures. In these rituals and traditions, the dearly departed are prayed for so they can move to the next stage of their spiritual journey, and be remembered and honored by loved ones. This exhibit invites the viewer to consider personal loss; cultural and religious rituals and traditions; global social issues; and contemporary iconography and archetypes, like the very familiar calaveras (skulls), calacas (skeletons) and la Catrina (Lady of the Dead).
