Dia de los Muertos Exhibit
Benefits the National Ovarian Cancer Center (NOCC)
Opening/Artist's Reception
November 3, 2017
630pm - 10pm

Come in costume, or just as you are, and join us for the Dia de los Muertos Exhibit Opening/ Artist's Reception. "Meet and Greet" the participating local artists behind this contemplative, yet celebratory and colorful, exhibit that brings together the rituals of the Catholic feast day, All Souls Day, and those of the ancient Aztec and contemporary Hispanic cultures. As part of these religious and cultural rituals and traditions, the dearly departed are prayed for so they can move to the next stage of their spiritual journey, and be remembered and honored by loved ones. We invite you to view their unique visual interpretations and encourage you to consider personal loss, cultural and religious rituals and traditions, global social issues, and contemporary iconography and archetypes, like the very familiar calaveras (skulls), calacas (skeletons) and la Catrina (Lady of the Dead).
We invite you to celebrate with us and help us take down the exhibit in real time by finding a work of art that speaks to you, purchasing it and taking it home with you immediately! Proceeds from this exhibit helps support our local artists and benefits the National Ovarian Cancer Center (NOCC).
This event is free and open to the public of all ages.
